‘Finalise mechanisms to start damaged infrastructure revamping’

KARACHI: Chairman Pakistan Peoples’ Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that with reconstruction of damaged infrastructure, including houses, roads and Irrigation system, employment opportunities would generate to reduce poverty ratio which has increased after heavy downpours and floods in province.

 “I want Sindh government to speed up construction work that would serve as a source of employment also,” he said while pressing over a high-level meeting here at CM House. Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, ministers, advisors, Chief Secretary Sohail Rajput, Chairman P&D Hassan Naqvi, PSCM Fayaz Jatoi and provincial secretaries attended meeting. Bilawal said that Covid-19 followed by floods 2022 had badly affected provincial economy. He added that poverty ratio had been recorded at 43 percent with 75.5 percent in rural areas.

 He urged provincial government to finalise all official procedures and mechanisms and start reconstruction of damaged infrastructure in all damaged sectors.

Bilawal said that first relief people of rural areas would feel was when they would be reimbursed money, they spent on purchasing seed and urea for rabi crop. Chairman PPP said that he would take up case of Sindh again to international community. He hoped that they would help Sindh government to rehabilitate affected people.  Bilawal said that he would again review progress of disbursement of money for seed and urea and starting of construction work in end of this month.
