Fifty micro-farming sets gifted by TIKA

Karachi: Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) in cooperation with Kiran Foundation gifted micro-farming set to 50 women living in Lyari district, where they can grow organic agricultural products. After two-day micro-farming training conducted in collaboration with Sindh Agriculture University lecturers at Lyari DTCO Public School Campus, micro-gardening kit distribution took place.
Distribution ceremony was attended by Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Karachi Cemal Sangu, TIKA Karachi Coordinator Halil Ibrahim Basaran, Kiran Foundation administrator and women from Lyari.
Consul General of Republic of Türkiye Sangu visited music class and library established by TIKA in 2021 at school before commencement of programme and appreciated it very much. He thanked TIKA for its contributions to beautiful children of Lyari. Sangu expressed that it is very important to support children as well as women, especially mothers and stated that micro gardens provided by TIKA will provide an opportunity to breathe in fresh environment in city life that is far from nature.
Starting his speech by appreciating Kiran Foundation and Sindh Agricultural University for their good cooperation, TIKA Karachi Coordinator Halil Ibrahim Basaran stated that they had previously established music class and library for children at Lyari DTCO Government School and created family interaction area and now they are pleased to give Lyari women and mothers an agricultural gift set where they can engage in agricultural activities with their children at home.
Abida Garib General Body Member of Kiran Foundation extended warm regards by expressing her gratitude for generosity and love of people of Türkiye.
From Lyarian women who participated in training, Saima Abdul Ghani said, "It was very interesting one-of-a-kind experience. Trainers taught us the practices for kitchen gardening and sustainability. We thank people of Türkiye and TIKA for this great opportunity.
After speeches, agricultural kits provided by TIKA were distributed to 50 women from Lyari. With distributed agricultural kits, Lyari women now have opportunity to grow organic agricultural products in city where there is no agricultural production area, while on other hand, they will have opportunity to interact with their children, especially in home environment.
