FIA office in debt to Rs 40m of K-E dues, warned cut off power

KARACHI: K-Electric issued warning to cut off electricity of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) complex building, if dues amounting to Rs 40 million remained unpaid.

According to details, K-Electric has issued final notice demanding remaining payment to be deposited in account of electricity bill by June 20 Power distributor warned that electricity connection would be disconnected if payment is not made till assigned date. Complex reportedly has only one commercial meter installed for its four-storey structure. Current bill for May stands at Rs 32,550,120 while total outstanding amount is Rs 40 million. Significant departments of FIA complex including the Cybercrime Wing, Countre-Terrorism Wing and Anti-Money Laundering and VCFT Wing, with 50 rooms and more than four dozen air conditioners installed. Last week, K-Electric issued stern warning to cut off electricity to departments of Sindh government over remaining dues amounting to billions of rupees. Sources close to development revealed that Sindh government and Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation have not made any payments to K-Electric since January.
