FIA arrests CEO Aqua Plast on account of IPR violation, takes 3-day physical remand

Karachi: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Faisalabad raided Aqua Plast, manufacturers of UPVC conduits and water distribution system and in this connection arrested CEO Kashif Azad on infringement of IPR violation of Brand of the Year Award’s Logo.

On complaint by Brand Foundation, an entity in private sector, FIA in accordance with by-laws of brand violation rules registered under FIR-C/187/2023 CRO 66/67 copyright ordinance 1962 case at FIA Circle Faisalabad.

FIA after taking three days physical remand of Kashif Azad from Intellectual Property Tribunal has started interrogation in matter besides using Brand of the Year Awrad’s Logo illegally.

FIA has also confiscated all published marketing materials inscribed with Brand of the Year Award Logo illegally.  Meanwhile, Kashif Azad talking to journalists, “Admitted he was using logo with malafide intentions.”

However, Brand Foundation has imposed Rs 100 million on Aqua Plast as compensation in milieu of violation of Brand Logo. On other hand, Brand Foundation asked FIA to take strict legal action against firms violating Brand of the Year Award Logo.

According to details, Brands Foundation is real and legitimate owner of trademark and copyrights of ‘Brand of the Year Award’s logo and sole intellectual rights ownership of this brand and logo have been registered in name of Brands Foundation for last 14 years.
