FBR seals five shops on Tariq Road

KARACHI: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) sealed five shops on Tariq Road for not depositing collected tax with national exchequer. According to details, FBR Corporate Tax Office took action against point-of-sale (POS) registered vendors, found guilty of evasion of government tax.
FBR officials sealed five shops for not following standard operating procedure which was released by Federal Board of Revenue regarding depositing tax. Sealed shop owners are accused of charging customers with Sales Tax on every sale linked to POS but not depositing it with national exchequer.
FBR has failed to achieve its tax collection target of Rs 965 billion for December 2022, falling short of Rs 225 billion. According to statement, revenue watchdog collected Rs 740 billion in revenue in December against target of Rs 965 billion.
