ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the deadline for filing Sales Tax and Federal Excise returns to March 27, 2025, to assist taxpayers. This extension aims to alleviate any difficulties faced by taxpayers in meeting the initial deadline.

The official notification, issued by the FBR, states that the original deadline for filing Sales Tax and Federal Excise returns for the February 2025 tax period was March 18, 2025. However, following the extension, taxpayers now have until March 27, 2025, to submit their returns without incurring penalties.

This decision was made under Section 74 of the Sales Tax Act 1990 and Section 43 of the Federal Excise Act 2005. FBR officials explained that the extension was granted to provide taxpayers with additional time to complete their filings, ensuring a smoother process for all parties involved.

Taxpayers have been advised to make use of the extended deadline and file their returns promptly to avoid any penalties. The FBR regularly extends tax return deadlines to support the business community and ensure timely tax compliance. This extension is seen as a positive move to ease the administrative burden on taxpayers and promote compliance with tax obligations.
