FBR exempts duties, taxes on import of onion, tomato

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced exemption from duties and taxes on import of onion and tomato to stabilise prices. 

According to FBR spokesperson full exemption has been given in taxes and duties for importing onion and tomato. 

Prices of tomato and onion have witnessed unprecedented rise in local markets due to damage caused to standing crops in recent floods.

Upon it Prime Minister directed to take immediate action to ensure smooth supply of onion and tomato to allay difficulties facing people.  Exemption granted in duties and taxes will lead to curtail prices of tomato and onion. Duties and taxes will last with till December 31, 2022.
