ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman categorically rejected draft of constitutional amendments, terming it ‘unacceptable and unviable‘. Government's proposed draft on constitutional amendments are not viable.

Speaking to media during an informal conversation at residence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Asad Qaiser, Fazlur Rehman revealed that government's original draft had been entirely dismissed after review. He questioned credibility of process, stating, "Now they are claiming it wasn't even their draft.

What kind of game was being played?"Sources mentioned that former President Arif Alvi and senior PTI leader Raoof Hasan also attended luncheon hosted by Asad Qaiser. Fazlur Rehman had received an invitation from Qaiser previous day, as both sides aimed to discuss constitutional amendments.

Proposed amendments include key changes to Constitution, such as establishment of Federal Constitutional Court, parallel to Supreme Court, to oversee constitutional matters.

Amendments also propose reforms to Article 63A, which would change how votes by defecting lawmakers are counted, as well as adjustments to judicial appointment process.
