Fawad discloses ‘PTI’s 5 MPs offered Rs1.2bn to change loyalties

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Fawad Chaudhry claimed that five MPAs from his party were offered Rs 1.2 billion to change loyalties ahead of Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi’s vote of confidence. Speaking to media to address his reservations, former Minister claimed, “Five lawmakers from Muzaffargarh had received phone calls from unnamed numbers and they [MPAs] were offered bribes.”
Alleging offer was given by Pakistan Democratic Movement, Fawad Chaudhry demanded an inquiry into phone calls and bribery offer.
Talking about PTI’s relations with state institutions, Chaudhry said, “Allegations being hurled at state institutions. We don’t want any sort of tussle with institutions and we are interested in working relationship with them [institution].” Speaking on Election Commission of Pakistan Fawad said, “There is no value of warrants legally.” We will move court for action against ECP on contempt of court.”
Continuing to take a dig at the electoral watchdog, Chaudhry said, “ECP is fulfilling all other tasks, with exception of holding elections.” Chaudhry also urged ECP to work as per Constitution and law.
Expressing his thoughts over dissolution of assemblies, Fawad said, “By dissolving Punjab and KP assemblies, we want to move forward.” Believing that country was currently under situation of martial-law partially, he said. “Today our numbers in PA exceed over 188.”
Recalling demand for elections, Chaudhry said that only polls could bring stability to country. “But sadly, efforts are being made to delay elections,” he added.
