Father’s role made me superstar: Shahzad

Shahzad Nawaz is a multi-talented man who has worked a lot for the promotion of arts and culture in Pakistan. He is also an actor who likes to take on diverse characters and his last performance as Asif Uncle in the drama Mein made him a household name.
Talking about how characters are important, he said that yes, people here are always running for lead characters but you can get noticed in any role if you are giving your 100%.
He also said that man actors in his age group do not like to take on father roles but his role as father in Mein made him a superstar overnight. Answering Tabish Hashmi that Humayun Saeed who is just a few years younger than him, would he ever play a grown up hero’s father on TV.
Shahzad said that Humayun is a great friend and world over heroes are over 40 years old so his characters are fine but he will probably not take on such a role. Among his contemporaries, he praised Faysal Quraishi who has played father roles if the character had meat in it.
