‘Ex-DC son who shot dead Karachi cop flees to Sweden’

KARACHI: Suspect Khurram Nisar who shot dead policeman Abdul Rehman in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase V late Monday night, has fled to Sweden.

According to Geo news report citing  police sources, Khurram took an international airline's flight via Istanbul which will land in Sweden. Suspect used his Swedish passport to run away from Pakistan, police sources shared.

  According to DIG South Irfan Baloch, suspect is reportedly son of former Deputy Commissioner. He said that police has recorded statement of accused parents and raids are being conducted to arrest culprit.

Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of event, making rounds on Internet, shows suspect and police, both holding firearms, disembarking from a black Toyota Mark X car and engaging in an apparently heated argument. Police officials told media that slain cop was chasing suspicious vehicle on his motorcycle. Driver opened fire at chasing cop while his fellow officer miraculously survived gun attack.

 Case of murder of policeman was registered on complaint of a sub-inspector at Darakhshan Police Station. Suspected shooter faces charges of terrorism, murder and shootout with police, officials said. Rahman, martyred cop was shot in right temple. Initial medical examination showed slug of bullet got stuck in head, according to First Information Report.
