Islamabad: Another alleged audio leak featuring former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar and lawyer Khawaja Tariq Raheem has come to fore, just days after leaked audio of phone call between incumbent top Supreme Court judge’s mother-in-law and Raheem’s wife stirred up political storm in country.
In latest purported audio leak, former top judge is speaking about judgment of seven-member bench on “suo motu” notice taken by apex court in 2010 to Raheem and asking him to look into matter.
Nisar is purportedly heard telling details of judgment to Raheem and saying that it had “way out” for them. Moreover, Nisar also refers to ouster of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Sardar Tanveer Ilyas as Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister over contempt of court. At this, senior lawyer said that they were planning to file another contempt case.
Nisar asked lawyer to file contempt of court case against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, via Muneer Ahmed. Meanwhile, Raheem said in video that verdict by three-member bench would be out soon, in reference to verdict issued by an eight-member bench which issued stay on case of clipping top justice’s powers.
Three-member bench had directed government to release Rs 21 billion by April 27 for snap polls and had warned of serious consequences in case of non-compliance with orders. After audio leak, Nisar said that conversation with Raheem was private but he doesn’t know when and which case it was about. “It is against right to privacy that conversation between two people is shared like this,” he said. Former top judge asked if he had “Sold Kashmir or made deal about Pakistan”. “Audio leak is stolen property. Stealing and selling that property is work of cursed people,” he added.
