Ex-CJ BHC Noor Maskanzai shot dead in Kharan

QUETTA: Former chief justice Balochistan High Court Muhammad Noor Maskanzai was shot dead by unknown assailants in Balochistan's Kharan district on Friday.

According to details, Maskanzai was returning after offering Isha prayer when unidentified armed men opened fire on him in front of the mosque. He succumbed to the injuries on his way to the hospital. Two others also sustained injuries during the attack.

The police and levies forces reached the crime scene and an investigation is underway. Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Qadoos Bizenjo has condemned the incident and considered it a great loss to the province. "We will not spare those who create trouble in Balochistan."

DIG Police Nazeer Ahmed Kurd said that the miscreants would be brought to justice and a police investigation is underway in this regard. CJ BHC Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan also expressed grief and sorrow over the incident. The law enforcement agencies are yet to give any official statement regarding the motive behind the incident.

Kharan is thought to be one of the danger zones in Balochistan for government and security officials.
