Kamran Tessori is a politician and businessman, currently serving as Sindh Governor since October 9, 2022.

President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi awarded Tamgha-e-Imtiaz to Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori for his public services towards poor and downtrodden. He got best exporter award on nine occasions and best businessman of year on three times. He was given golden son of country award once. He is also recipient of many awards besides title like ‘Awami Governor’.

‘Governorship in eyes of Kamran Khan Tessori’:

As visionary leader, governor would provide an outlook for future as well as influence both values and expectations of citizens. It is critical for governor to define future challenges and provide pathway for citizens to face them even when they require short-run sacrifices. For example, one of most pressing challenges today involves inflation, job loss and wages, education, law and order and many more.

One way to alleviate this particular challenge is to provide citizens with continuous learning opportunities for taking measures and enhancing skill to tackle such issues. It is critical for a governor not only to define the challenge, but to specify how state government will provide specific opportunities, which in this example are education and training opportunities, to meet challenge.

The key component, however, is for governor to provide an optimistic message that will increase value of education for all citizens, R result is that citizens will take initiative to upgrade their own skill levels and will develop higher expectation of importance of education.

A governor as an effective manager and visionary leader will have long-run positive impacts on citizens of his or her state in terms of their economic well-being, faith in government and democracy and long-run values and expectations.

Analysts’ perception on quality of a governor or civil servant:

According to Natasha Lewis, senior Policy Analyst at Ministry for Women, New Zealand highlights quality of good government servant.

Patience, resilience and kindness "Everyone here is smart, so distinguish yourself by being kind." Too often, we equate kindness with being non-assertive or even being pushover. There are so many people brimming with brilliant ideas. But those with kindness to create inclusive, powerful ways to design, shape, deliver and evaluate those brilliant ideas are ones I keep wanting to connect with and learn from.

Syed Muntasir Mamun Director of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Bangladesh says, Shrewd judgment: I would say ability to see through someone. Public servant is in unique position-he or she is bound by machination of political master. He has to deliver to unknown faces. One has to see through veils, as there are many masks people wear. For public servant, this is very important that they understand which mask they are speaking to. If you understand that, it solves lot of mysteries and heartbreak. Next steps are imagination, hard work, teamwork and an open mind.

Aarathi Krishnan, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies opines in this regard: Future-proof skills. Public servants need to be considerably more data-and tech-literate to understand powers and opportunities afforded by emerging technology. They need ability to move beyond just ‘tick-the-box’ programmes and policies and embrace innovative approaches and partners.

Zakhele Mbhele, Member of Parliament, South Africa says, “I believe that what makes good public servant, particularly in terms of politicians and political office-bearers, is quality of operating from premise of ideas and principles, not individual interests and partisan agendas.”
