KARACHI: European Air Safety Committee is set to approve renewal of PIA and Vision Air flights’ Third Country Operators’ Permits next month, sources informed.

In recent development, European Commission and European Aviation Safety Agency (IASA) forwarded decision-related to flight ban of Pakistan International Airlines in Europe-to European Air Safety Committee. Meeting of European Air Safety Committee is scheduled to be held between May 14 and 16 in Brussels. European Commission spokesperson Deborah Almerge, emphasised that there are no restrictions on other Pakistani airlines in European countries.

She clarified that ban on PIA and Air Vision was not imposed due to their addition in European Air Safety List, but rather due to safety concerns related to Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority. European Commission stated that flight safety measures taken by Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority are being examined by Review Board this month. After pilots’ license scandal, European Aviation Agency had imposed ban on all Pakistani airlines in July 2020.
