Beijing: Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that China was deeply concerned about current escalation of tensions and violence between Palestinians and Israelis and called on relevant parties to remain calm and exercise restraint.

In statement, spokesperson urged an immediate end to hostilities to protect civilians and avoid further deterioration of situation.

Recurrence of conflict shows once again that protracted standstill of peace process cannot last, said spokesperson, adding that fundamental way out of conflict lied in implementing two-state solution and establishing an independent State of Palestine.

“international community needs to act with greater urgency, step up input into Palestine question, facilitate early resumption of peace talks between Palestine and Israel, and find way to bring about enduring peace,” said spokesperson. China will continue to work relentlessly with international community toward achieving that ending, spokesperson added.
