Karachi: The Makhani Welfare Foundation, a U.S.-Pakistan diaspora organization, proudly hosted a Certificate Distribution Ceremony to celebrate the remarkable achievements of participants in its community welfare programs over the past year.
The event, held at the Pak-American Cultural Center, highlighted the foundation’s commitment to empowering women, especially Afghan refugee girls, through vocational training and skill development. The ceremony recognized 75 individuals who completed programs in stitching, mehndi artistry, embroidery, advanced design, IT courses, Montessori training, and beautician skills, showcasing their dedication and drive to improve their lives and contribute to their communities. Speaking at the event, Amir Ali Makhani, President of the Makhani Welfare Foundation, and Naveed Chagani, General Secretary, emphasized the transformative impact of these initiatives. “These certificates represent more than just the completion of a course-they symbolize empowerment, resilience, and the foundation’s unwavering commitment to creating opportunities for underserved communities,” they said.
The ceremony was graced by notable attendees, including Reva Gupta, Spokesperson for the U.S. Consulate General in Karachi; Fazil Jamili, President of the Karachi Press Club; Qazi Muhammad Yasir, Senior Journalist; Babar Abbasi, Builder & Developer; and Sheikh Imtiaz Hussain, President of the American-Pakistan Business Development Association. They lauded the foundation’s dedication to uplifting vulnerable populations and encouraged continued collaboration to maximize its impact. The Makhani Welfare Foundation, supported by the U.S.-Pakistan diaspora family, has played a pivotal role in addressing critical needs in Pakistan. From vocational training to community outreach, the foundation has empowered thousands, with a special focus on Afghan refugee girls, equipping them with the skills and confidence to build sustainable futures. “The inclusion of Afghan refugee girls in these programs underscores the importance of providing education and vocational training to marginalized groups, fostering hope, and opening pathways to self-reliance,” added Gupta. In 2025, the Makhani Welfare Foundation aims to expand its programs, addressing emerging community needs with innovative and sustainable solutions. The foundation continues to exemplify how cross-border collaboration and compassion can create meaningful change.
