Electricity tariff hiked for K-Electric consumers

KARACHI: Power Division notified hike in electricity tariff by Rs 4.45 per unit for Karachi consumers following NEPRA’s decision. Latest hike in electricity tariff was made in terms of first quarterly adjustment of previous fiscal year. Additional payments will be received from K-Electric consumers in October and November. Electricity tariff for K-Electric consumers was increased from Rs 1.49 per unit to Rs 4.45 per unit.
Giving another shock to already burdened power consumers, National Electric Power Regulatory Authority approved an increase in tariff by Rs 1.71 per unit. As per issued notification, power regulatory authority approved increase in power tariff under fuel adjustment charges for month of August.
According to notification issued by NEPRA, rate of Rs 3.28 per kilowatt hour shall be recovered from different consumers’ categories of power distribution companies and K-Electric in period of six months— October 2023 to March 2024.
