Electoral reforms: MQM-P to forward recommendations to Centre

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) held in a session discussed recommendations regarding electoral reforms. Following directives of MQM-P convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, central leaders mulled over recommendations regarding electoral reforms.
Sources said that MQM-P will forward recommendations to law ministry after concluding consultation process. MQM-P leaders urged scrutiny of census data, delimitation and voter lists. They said that delimitation should be made in accordance with Constitution and law.
Earlier Rabita Committee of MQM-P held key session after talks with Pakistan Peoples’ Party. RC chaired by convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui held consultations over political situation, party policy, by-polls and other matters. RC members reviewed strategy for upcoming by-polls and Local Government elections. Sources said that MQM-P RC members discussed weaknesses in party policy, decision making and organisational structure. MQM-P leaders recommended to maintain contact with dissident activities and voters at earliest.
MQM-P central leaders took RC members into confidence regarding implementation of political agreements with PPP and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz) and recent meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
