MULTAN: PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said holding polls in 90 days is constitutional clause and PTI cannot show any flexibility over it. “We have never refused from holding talks. Decision about polls in KP and Punjab is of constitutional nature. Talks will take place within constitutional framework. Holding polls within 90 days is provision of Constitution. We cannot show any flexibility over it, he said this while talking to media men here.

He held “We are political people. Political people negotiate. Political party does not shy away from negotiations. There are limits of negotiations. We have always said we are ready for talks.

He remarked talks will take place within constitutional parameters. They cannot transcend Constitution. Holding election within 90 days is clause of constitution. We cannot show any flexibility over it. Any flexibility will be deviation from Constitution.

He went on to say we can sit and talk on matter of national assembly and Balochistan and Sindh assemblies that when they should be dissolved. Election should be held on one and same day. We can talk on it. Siraj ul Haq too wants this that there should be talks to steer country out of prevailing situation. He underlined we cannot forget May 14. May 14 is provision of constitution. It is decision of Supreme Court. We will have to seek opinion from lawyers. 73 percent people say immediate elections are needed to extricate country from quagmire. How can we show flexibility on Constitution? If they have two thirds majority they can make amendment in Constitution.

He stressed Constitution should be recognised and accepted. What is tension in it. Why do they want to escape from election. Why do they want to turn away their face from Constitution?

He held timing will not be according to Asif Ali Zardari choice. Timing will be fixed as per Constitution.
