Rawalpindi: At least three terrorists were killed and soldier of Pakistan Army Naik Abdul Rauf embraced martyrdom in two separate clashes near Afghanistan border, military said in statement.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), first incident occurred when security forces detected movement of three terrorists attempting to infiltrate Pakistan-Afghanistan border in general area of Batwar, Bajaur district.
Following fierce exchange of fire, all three terrorists were neutralised and security forces recovered significant cache of weapons, ammunition and explosives from eliminated militants. In second incident on night of December 30/31, terrorists from inside Afghanistan targeted Pakistani border post in general area of Spinwam, North Waziristan district. In response, Pakistani troops retaliated effectively, causing considerable losses to attackers.
Tragically, Naik Abdul Rauf, 31-year-old resident of Rahimyar Khan district, fought gallantly but succumbed to his injuries, embracing martyrdom during exchange of fire.
“Pakistan has consistently urged Interim Afghan government to enhance border management on their side of border,” ISPR said, emphasising that Afghan Taliban must fulfill its obligations to prevent use of Afghan soil by terrorists for carrying out acts of terrorism against Pakistan.
