RAWALPINDI: At least eight terrorists were killed and two Pakistan Army soldiers injured when Security Forces carried out an operation in South Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, military’s media wing said.

According to press release from Inter-Services Public relations (ISPR), security forces carried out operation after receiving information of presence of terrorists in the Zinghara area of South Waziristan. “During intense exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists including mortar fire, eight terrorists have been killed, whereas two soldiers are injured,” ISPR said in statement.

“Unfortunately, two children embraced martyrdom during exchange of fire,” it added. Last week, security forces killed at least nine terrorists in two separate operations, six militants during an intelligence-based operation in Datta Khel area of adjacent North Waziristan district and three more terrorists in follow-up sanitisation operation of area.

Locals of area appreciated security forces’ response and expressed their full support to eliminate menace of terrorism from area, ISPR had said in statement following operation.
