Caretaker Minister for Commerce and Industry Gohar Ijaz said that government will work hard to increase Pakistan’s exports to more than $ 100 billion for sustainable economic growth and development.

Talking to PTV news, he stressed that country needs to work hard to catch up with emerging economies in world, adding, country is presently facing big economic challenges, but they are not bigger than our capabilities and resolve to overcome them.

He said that agricultural, industrial and textile sectors can play an important role in increasing exports, reducing imports and achieving sustainable economic growth in country. Replying to question, he said Prime Minister has chosen well-versed team that will succeed in mission of holding free and fair general elections in country.

He said in order to foster innovation and industry growth, he planned to launch flagship projects within Special Economic Zones, with specific focus on garments sector.

“These initiatives will stimulate economic activity, create employment opportunities and further solidify country’s position on global economic stage,” he hoped. Gohar Ejaz voiced his concerns regarding subsidies granted to state-owned enterprises, which, he said, would be gradually phased out these subsidies, move that aligned with his overarching goal of streamlining operations, enhancing efficiency and ensuring sustainable economic progress.
