EDB’s failure to hold Battery Manufacturers’ meeting

KARACHI: The Engineering Development Board (EDB) working under Ministry of Industries, Islamabad failed to hold a crucial Zoom link meeting with Battery manufacturers after calling it twice. 

Informed sources disclosed that EDB issued notice on 17 February, 2025 for meeting to discuss the localization of Automotive Batteries with reference to IORC of automotive batteries issued under SRO 655(I)/2006. Agenda of the meeting was; to deliberate the localization status of automotive batteries and introduction of new technologies batteries used in new energy vehicles, a meeting has been scheduled on Wednesday February 19, 2025 at 1500 hrs in the committee room of EDB, Islamabad.

  You are requested to attend the meeting and confirm the participation.  The invitation was extended to twelve battery manufacturers belonging to Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Bhai Pheru, District Kasur, and Hyderabad. They were; Atlas Battery Limited, Exide Pakistan Ltd., Century Engineering Industries (Pvt) Ltd., Treet Battery Ltd., S.M.J International Industries (Pvt) Ltd., Total Power Industries (Pvt) Ltd., Pakistan Accumulators (Pvt) Ltd., Force Batteries (Pvt) Ltd., Millat Industrial Products Ltd., Data Engineering (Pvt) Ltd., ACM Hi-Tech Engineering (Pvt) Ltd. and Reon Energy (Pvt) Ltd.     

However, first the meeting was rescheduled at 1600 hrs same day but did not held. Again it was scheduled on Friday 21 February, 2025 at 1100 hrs but failed to hold without stating any reasons, the sources said.
