ECP meeting on PTI seats ends without decision

ISLAMABAD: Crucial meeting of Election Commission, chaired by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, failed to reach conclusion on implementation of Supreme Court’s decision regarding 41 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf seats.
Four-hour meeting presided over by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja discussed Supreme Court’s directive concerning 41 reserved seats for PTI. Despite lengthy discussions, no decision was reached. Meeting focused on implementing Supreme Court’s order, which requires independent members to join PTI, allocating reserved seats to party. Members of electoral watchdog, legal experts and officials participated in discussions. However, ECP decided to seek further consultations with legal experts and will reconvene today to continue deliberations.
