Peshawar: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Senator Shibli Faraz asserted that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had conducted what he described as the “Most controversial elections” in the country’s history.
Speaking to media outside Peshawar High Court, Faraz voiced his strong discontent over recent developments in the electoral and judicial processes. Faraz revealed that the 26th Constitutional Amendment had been challenged in court. “The way judges are being appointed is not legally or ethically correct,” he stated, expressing concerns over the fairness and transparency of the process.
He said that the tenure of the chief election commissioner (CEC) had expired, a fact that he claimed had added to the controversy surrounding the commission’s actions. The PTI leader also questioned whether the ultimate goal was to disqualify the top leadership of his party. “Is this the purpose, to disqualify the top leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf?” Faraz asked, casting doubt on the impartiality of the entire election process. He warned that any flaws in the process would undoubtedly influence the judges appointed during this period.
“When the process is flawed, it will affect the judges appointed through that process,” he added.
