KARACHI: Election Commission of Pakistan announced schedule of mayor and deputy mayor election in Sindh. As per details, election of mayor and deputy mayor will take place on June 15 while nomination paper can be submitted by June 9-10. ECP schedule stated that Returning Officer will check nomination papers on June 11 and finalised list of candidates will be released on June 14. On June 16, Returning Officers will announce results whereas successful candidates will take oath on June 19.

Furthermore, ECP spokesperson said that if independent candidates want to join party they can join till May 24 and they have to submit an oath to Returning Officer, stating that they are joining party of their free will and without any pressure. Earlier, Sindh Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah said that PPP is ‘in contact’ with Jamaat-e-Islami over Karachi Mayor’s election.
