ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) decided to hold by-elections in four national and Punjab assemblies’ constituencies on October 9. Commission announced that polling in NA-157 Multan, PP-139 Sheikhupura, PP-241 Bahawalnagar and PP-209 Khanewal will be held on October 9.

Moreover, Secretary ECP has been directed to seek order from Islamabad High Court regarding decision on by-polls in nine constituencies of National Assembly. “High Court while taking notice of media reports has made it clear that only membership of respondent was restored,” it said while referring to IHC decision to restore National Assembly membership of PTI lawmaker Shakoor Shad. Election Commission has also sought a report from Sindh government for holding second phase of Local Government elections in Sindh. On September 9, Election Commission postponed  scheduled by-elections in 13 constitutions.
