ECP allots election symbols to political parties

ISLAMABAD: Election Commission Pakistan allotted election symbols to political parties for upcoming general elections. According to details, Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja chaired meeting of Commission, wherein briefing was given on various information technology projects related to general election 2023. During meeting, ECP allotted election symbols for general polls to 127 political parties collectively. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s election symbol of bat, Pakistan Peoples’ Party arrow and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz lion remained same in symbol allotment.
Meanwhile, officers of IT team and project management unit briefed participants of meeting on various projects, including election management system. Returning officers (ROs) will be facilitated in compiling results under election management system. Meeting was also briefed on establishment of Election Management Control Centre. Supreme Court, in 3-2 verdict ruled that elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab should be held within 90 days. CJP Justice Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar supported verdict, while Justice Jamal Mandokhail and Justice Mansoor Ali Shah opposed admissibility of suo moto notice and dissented from majority verdict.
