EC not authorised to disqualify any one for lifetime: CJP

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial has remarked “I personally think that Election Commission is not authorised to disqualify some one for life time under Section 62-1/F. Court while seeking replies to 2 questions from counsel for Faisal Vawda adjourned hearing of case till November 9.

SC inquired “Tell us can SC maintain or otherwise high court declaration under Article 62/1/F. As to why not SC should exercise powers under Article 187 in light of facts to meet norms of full justice. A 3-member bench of SC presided over by CJP Umar Ata Bandial took up case for hearing yesterday. Justice Mansoor Ali Shah inquired when case has come to SC and it looks that if it is wrong then why SC should not exercise Article 187.

Counsel for Vawda took plea SC has too much powers that they can hang any one. CJP while addressing counsel for Vawda remarked think over points of case. Court adjourned hearing of case till November 9.
