Dr Fawzia to meet her sister Dr Aafia after two decades

Islamabad: Dr Fawzia and British Attorney Clive Stafford-Smith embarked on heartfelt mission as they left to meet with Dr Aafia Siddiqui. Senator Mushtaq Ahmed who is also accompanying them shared this on his Twitter account.
“Clive Smith and I will have meeting with Dr Aafia today, God willing, we will meet again day after tomorrow,” he wrote in tweet.
Meeting will take place in FMC Carswell, prison notorious for its harsh conditions and often referred to as “Hell house”.
Aafia Siddiqui is Pakistani scientist who was found guilty of attempting to murder and assault American personnel in Afghanistan in 2010. She received prison sentence of 86 years. She consistently claimed her innocence and case sparked significant controversy. Aafia Siddiqui was born in Karachi, Pakistan in 1972.
She studied biochemistry at University of Karachi and neuroscience at Brandeis University, earning her degrees in early 1990s.
Later, she completed Ph.D. in neuroscience at University of Massachusetts Medical School in 2001.
She engaged in humanitarian efforts, collaborating with organisations like World Health Organisation and United Nations Children’s Fund. Trial commenced in January 2010 and she was convicted two months later. Court handed her an 86-year prison sentence.
Throughout proceedings, Aafia Siddiqui maintained her innocence and appealed her conviction.
