Dr Asim Hussain, DC Central Taha inaugurate 10-day ‘Clean and Green’ campaign

KARACHI: Senior leader Pakistan Peoples’ Party and former Minister Dr. Asim Hussain along with Deputy Commissioner and Administrator District Central Taha Saleem inaugurated ‘Clean and Green’ campaign at Fateh Family Park in North Nazimabad with an intent to make District Central green with beautification.
Municipal Commissioner Shamoona Sadaf, representatives Karachi Residency Foundation, civil society, environmental organisations and associations of private educational institutions, print and electronic media and students besides local residents participated in opening ceremony. Dr. Asim Hussain said that keeping areas around homes clean is part of our faith.
This vigorous campaign against environmental pollution should be conducted in educational institutions and should be made part of curriculum. DC Taha Saleem giving details about campaign said that people of District should have clean and green environment.
aking all possible measures to provide transparent and pollution free civic and social environment in ten day campaign is named as ‘Clean and Green’ campaign and is linked with same chain of plan to arrange more programmes. He said that administration and officers and employees of municipality are fulfilling their responsibilities well, due to which District can be made better. Institutions and individuals participating in this programme will play their full role in making clean and green campaign under municipality successful. Later, students of public and private schools referred to environmental pollution and promotion of plantation. Teachers, students and guests planted saplings while students painted walls and footpaths and made posters in which different messages were inscribed. Sanitation Department presented practical example of waste collection and disposal, while Park Department gave information about planting and nurturing plants. They appreciated steps taken by Taha Saleem for improvement of District.
