Karachi: President Arif Alvi's friend Wajid Jawad also President of Anjuman Tarraqi Urdu has been meddling in Urdu University affairs without formal notification for last many years. It has been unearthed that Wajid Jawad has been attending senate meetings of Federal Urdu University for more than last 5 years without any formal notification by Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training which is sheer violation of Act of FUUAST.
According to FUUAT Act regarding adoption of member in Senate from Anjuman-e-Taraqqi Urdu, in this perspective there has to be nomination panel of 3 names finalised by nominating committee and one of those 3 names should be notified by Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training in prescribed manner.
Wajid Jawwad is also part of Vice Chancellor Search Committee on account of being member Senate. Besides that, he also has been member of Syndicate of FUUAST. Surprisingly, he was made convener of selection board review committee despite being short of qualification and experience in this regard.
Previously, when ex-acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rubina Mushtaq's tenure ended an emergency committee recommended ex-deputy chair of Senate A.Q Khalil as in-charge of Vice Chancellor office. Later on, minutes of this emergency committee was not approved by Senate by declaring its recommendation irregular and out of scope of emergency committee. Recently, when tenure of ex-acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. M Ziauddin ended another emergency committee was formed which recommended extension in tenure of Dr. M Ziauddin. Surprisingly, Wajid Jawwad has been part of both of these emergency committees as Senator. Siddique, faculty member of University tried to invoke sindh High Court on this matter through Constitutional Petition D 5901/2021. Matter has not been properly taken up by SHC in last two years or so. This is despite of fact that he has filed urgent application to find no ears.
