Domestic unit sheds value versus dollar, closes to 228.14

Karachi: Rupee registered decline against dollar for 17th successive session, depreciating 0.09 percent in inter-bank market. As per State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), rupee declined by 0.21 paisa to close at 228.14. During ongoing fiscal year, rupee has depreciated 10.25 percent against greenback.
Sterling was little changed at $ 1.21505, while crept 0.02 percent higher to 103.14, though remained not far off its seven-month low of 102.93 hit earlier in week. Oil prices, key indicator of currency parity rose in early trade, building on gains in previous session as China’s demand outlook improves and concerns rise over impact of sanctions on Russian supply.
