District Central kicks-off infrastructure, maintenance work, says DC Taha Saleem

KARACHI: Monsoons shower hit hard infrastructure of District Municipal Corporation (DMC) Central especially roads and sewerage system of District. In this respect Deputy Commissioner and Administrator Taha Saleem issued instructions to departments taking immediate steps and as a result of which, in first phase, filling of potholes was made possible, while in second phase, highways were chosen for corroded carpeting to ease flow of vehicular traffic. Road lining and reconstruction has been started on a priority.

Most of roads in zone have fallen into disrepair, while road lining work is going on in Hussainabad, Gulbarg zone. In other areas, roads will be lined up in phases. Anti-encroachment department on directive of National Commissioners is engaged taking action against encroachments in areas like Liaquatabad, Nazimabad and North Karachi including encroachments on main highways, link roads and storm drains.

In this regard, anti-encroachment department has support of KMC, KDA and police. Taha warned that any kind of slowness and negligence in this regard will not be tolerated. Along with issues of traffic flow, problem of traffic jams is getting serious due to which people are unable to reach their jobs and places of business on time. Taha Salim gave special instructions to officers of concerned departments they should use all available resources to repair and rebuild roads damaged by recent rains.
