District Central administration gears up arrangements ahead of Shab-e-Barat

KARACHI: On instructions of Deputy Commissioner and Administrator District Central Taha Saleem Municipal Commissioner Afaq Saeed visited Sakhi Hasan Cemetery to review work on improvement on sanitation, cutting of trees and light arrangements.

Director of Sanitation Zaheer Ahmed, Director of Gardens Nadeem Hanif, Deputy Director of Sanitation Shabir Hussain and other relevant officers were accompanied with Municipal Commissioner.

Talking to media persons, he said that although responsibility of cleaning cemeteries lies with Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, administration of central municipality is taking special measures to provide facilities to public on Shab-e-Barat. Cleaning work around cemeteries, repairing leakage sewage lines on roads leading to cemeteries, filling pits including adequate arrangements for lighting, road paving is being carried out on priority.

Visitors to graveyards should not face any issue on Shab-e-Barat as steps are being taken in collaboration with district administration for better arrangements in cemeteries.

Water supply and other arrangements are also being carried out on priority. He said that rescue personnel will also be deployed to guide people around cemeteries and help police in traffic control. He said that relevant institutions of central and district administrations of municipality fulfilled their duties in connection with arrangements for Shab-e-Barat. However, it is also responsibility of citizens to cooperate with municipal officials in this regard.
