Diamer-Bhasha project pivotal for country’s economic uplift: Minister

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Water Resources Khurshid Shah said that Diamer Bhasha Dam is pivotal for Pakistan’s economic progress as project would increase country’s water storage capacity.
During his visit to worksite of project, he said that Dam would provide ample water resources for agriculture purposes and would prevent country from flood devastations in future. Accompanies by SAPM on Kashmir and GB Qamar Zaman Qaira, minister said his ministry would fully facilitate project for its timely completion and directed relevant authorities to fasten dam’s construction. Earlier project’s Chief Executive Officer along with other officials briefed minister about project’s construction.
During project, Khurshid Shah was told that work is currently underway simultaneously on 10 project sites. He was told that 4,500 Mega Watts electricity will be produced by project, adding that 1.23 million acres of agricultural land will be provided with adequate water.
