DG Rangers Sindh reviews arrangements to tackle cyclone

KARACHI: Director General (DG) Rangers Sindh Major General Azhar Waqas visited coastal areas of Thatta, Sujawal and Badin to review arrangements to tackle possible threat of cyclone moving towards Thatta and Karachi.
Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm ‘BIPARJOY’ over northeast Arabian Sea moved further north-northwestward during last 12 hours, weakened into Very Severe Cyclonic Storm (VSCS) and now lies near Latitude 20.7°N & Longitude 67.1°E at distance of about 470km south of Karachi, 460km south of Thatta.
DG Rangers held meetings with coastal officials and reviewed arrangements for shifting people from coastal areas of Badin and Thatta to safer areas. He directed officials to ensure protective measures as soon as possible. Waqas directed sector commanders to support civil administration in establishing free medical camps and providing relief goods to people. He held emergency conference in Badin to review precautionary measures.
Ministry of Climate Change said that people should take threat of cyclone seriously and follow advisory measures. Though cyclone has slightly weakened but it is still very severe cyclone.
