Development work underway in industrial areas: Secy LG Najam Ahmad

KARACHI: Secretary Local Government (LG) Syed Najam Ahmad Shah said that Department under supervision of Sindh government expediting development works on emergency basis with support of World Bank in all residential and commercial areas.
Under patronage of Chief Minister and Local Government Minister, special attention is being given to repair of roads, rehabilitation of chocked sewerage lines and renovation of key areas of city.
Addressing luncheon meeting at KATI, Faraz-ur-Rehman CEO of KITE Limited Zubair Chhaya, senior Vice President Nighat Awan, Vice President Muslim Mohammadi, former presidents Salman Aslam, Zahid Saeed, Masood Naqi, Danish Khan, Special Secretary Technical Tufail Paliju and MD Solid Waste Management Board Zubair Channa was present.
He said that business activities in industrial areas are backbone of provincial and national economy and government will make every possible effort to solve problems of businessmen.
He said that government is trying to provide best sewage system and in addition to available resources, negotiations are underway with World Bank for obtaining more grants. He directed Special Secretary and MD Solid Waste to take special measures regarding improvement of industrial area and assured officials of KATI of all cooperation and support of government. Earlier, Faraz-ur-Rehman said that roads of city are dilapidated after recent rains.
He said that corruption in water board is at an extreme. He said that roads should be prepared according to standards and water shortage in industrial area should be removed. Zubair Chhaya said that KATI has owned EBM Causeway from scratch and will continue to do so. Masood Naqi said that in Korangi industrial area there are 7 areas that needed immediate attention. All institutions need to work in mutual consultation which will benefit not only industrial area but entire city.
Zahid Saeed said that he prepared a plan for an urban forest near Malir River in which trees will be planted up to 40 kilometers. He said that local authorities are dumping garbage in Malir River, which has increased pollution.
