ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that despite constraints imposed by domestic and global circumstances, budget 2023-24 promised to turn things around and has outlined clear path for purpose.

In a tweet he said that achieving economic self-sufficiency remained overarching goal where economy was insulated from external turbulence and shocks.

He said as experts were analysing various facets of budget 2023-24, he considered it important to highlight special emphasis government had placed on growth-inducing sectors in budget.

He said that measures for uplifting of information technology, agriculture, solarisation, youth development and other sectors were proposed after thorough deliberations.

“They are aimed at incentivizing innovation and entrepreneurship of our talented youth and boosting the productivity of agriculture and attracting investment in agro-industry.”

At same time, he said that government was working on solarisation initiative to replace costlier sources of power generation by harnessing vast solar power. “Affordable energy is key to economic growth and provision of relief to people. Procurement of crude oil from Russia is also part of energy security plan,” Prime Minister remarked.
