‘Designated spots in Nazimabad Town to be made smoking-free’

 Karachi: Nazimabad Town-Anti-Smoking Department organised training session for officials in order to make Town-designated areas tobacco-free. Bilal Zafar Solangi gave insight regarding steps to be taken for achieve result.

Resolution was also passed in this direction. Chairman Town Syed Muhammad Muzaffar highlighted salient features of drive and asked officials to implement code decided in session. Public places, public transport, parks, town-run offices, educational institutions, health centres and other public places will be made smoking-free. Sale of cigarettes to persons under eighteen years of age, sale of open packets of cigarettes and other tobacco products within 50 meters of educational institutions will be completely prohibited. Shopkeepers will be bound to present affidavit and in case of violation, Town officials will fine shopkeepers. Vice Chairman Muhammad Numan Siddiqui, Municipal Commissioner Iqtar Ali Jafari, focal person Shahid, Director Advertisement Asif Baig, Director Council Obaid. Alam, Director Parks Asif Hussain, Deputy Director Education Khadija Taslim and Deputy Director Libraries Ayaz Tariq were present.
