Hyderabad: Deputy Mayor Hyderabad Sagheer Ahmed Qureshi representing Pakistan Peoples’ Party at ‘digital media for digital democracy’ five-day workshop organised by the Women Media Centre Hyderabad emphasised digital media has emerged as robust platform for freedom of expression in Pakistan.

He encouraged female participants to engage with digital media to reveal truth and highlighted that bans are not viable solution to issues. Affirming Pakistan Peoples’ Party’s position he asserted that party opposes restrictions on freedom of expression. He advised participants to focus on presenting truth and addressing issues, rather than succumbing to negative propaganda. He distributed certificates to attendees. He said evolution from print to electronic media and highlighted how digital media has quickly proven to be an effective medium for communication. He stressed that while digital media can play crucial role in strengthening democracy, it should be subject to checks and balances rather than restrictions and bans. He underscored significance of digital media in shaping democratic society.
