DEMOCRATIC PEOPLES' REPUBLIC OF KOREA '76th Independence Day celebrated with zeal, zest

KARACHI: Ceremony was held at Arts Council to celebrate 76th Independence Day of North Korea, organised by Pak-Korea Friendship Organisation and Ghazi Media House.

Event was attended by Consul General of North Korea Cha and his team. Javed Ansari head of Pak-Korea Friendship Organisation shed light on struggle of revolutionary leader of Korea, Comrade Kim Il-sung, in gaining freedom from Japan. CEO of Ghazi Media House Ghazi Salahuddin said that bond of friendship between Democratic Peoples’ Republic of Korea and Pakistan was established in 1972 during visit of Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto to Korea. Korean people, under leadership of their great leader Comrade Kim Il-sung, freed their country from Japanese imperialism after prolonged struggle. He added that after Comrade Kim Il-sung, Comrade Kim Jong-il transformed Korea into an invincible power and today, under leadership of Comrade Kim Jong-un, Korean people are living prosperous life.

Senior leaders of various political parties including Habibuddin Junaidi of Pakistan Peoples’ Party, Younus Buner of Awami National Party, Ayub Qureshi Vice President of National Party, Advocate Jamil Burney and Senator Lal Din also addressed ceremony. At conclusion, Consul General of North Korea Matin expressed his gratitude to all attendees for participating in event and reaffirmed commitment to further strengthen Pakistan-Korea bilateral relations in future. Cake was also cut to commemorate Korea’s Independence Day. Pir of Jhando Sharif, Syed Inaam Shah Rashidi, presented Sindhi lungi as gift to Consul General and Ghazi Salahuddin. Other notable personalities who attended event included Kokab Iqbal, Babar Suhail, Kunwar Arshad Ali Khan, senior Advocate Syed Mureed Ali Shah, Hanif Samo, Majeed Baloch, Arif Khan, Arshad Suhail, Dr. Imtiaz Sheikh, Zakir Hanif, Kashif ur Rehman, Saleem Chandio, Abrar Bakhtiar, Shabbir Ghauri, Khawar Hussain, Shan Chaudhry and Malik Munawar Hussain.
