LAHORE: Fans and industry peers observed fifth death anniversary of esteemed TV and film actor Abid Ali on Thursday.
Born in 1952 in Quetta, Abid Ali began his career at Radio Pakistan before making his mark in Lahore as a successful actor. Abid Ali’s illustrious career spanned over 45 years, during which he captivated audiences with his versatile performances. He was honored with the Pride of Performance award in 1985 for his contributions to the arts. His legacy includes memorable roles in classic television dramas such as Jhok Siyal, Zanjeer, Waris, and Dasht. His role as Dilawar Khan in the 1979 PTV drama Waris remains iconic. In 1993, Abid Ali expanded his career into directing and producing, with notable projects like Dasht, the first private production in Pakistan, and Doosra Aasman, the first PTV drama shot abroad. His recent works included Bunty, I Love You, Diyar-e-Dil, Aangan, and the ongoing serials Mera Rab Waris and Ramz-e-Ishq. Abid Ali’s impact on Pakistani entertainment remains profound and enduring.
