Dealing with digital terrorism

The recent press conference of ISPR Director General Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry was an excellent, comprehensive and clear press conference compared to the previous press conferences, he looked more confident than before and the message he gave to the opponents of the army, he was quite successful in that.

He made it clear in very clear words that the 9th May incident is an anarchic group which has harmed Pakistan and the armed forces, whatever happened, plans to attack military installations and anyone responsible for the incident, there will be no compromise with these anarchists, and the army will not budge even an inch from its stand and until they are brought to justice, further anarchy and fascism will spread in the country.  In this important press conference, the term of terrorism "Digital Terrorism" also came up. DG ISPR said that just as a terrorist takes up arms and tries to get his point across, digital terrorists use fake news and propaganda to weaken the relationship between the army, the military leadership and the public. Both digital and conventional terrorists target the military.

And both digital and conventional terrorists target the military. After the press conference, the digital terrorist PTI spokesman Rauf Hasan was arrested in a joint operation by the police and FIA, who along with his team was spreading negative propaganda and digital terrorism against the Pakistan Army and its chief on social media.  During the investigation, the revelation of his relationship and funding with Rahul, an Indian citizen, also came to light. The recent press conference was a big loud and clear message from the Pakistan Army that enough is enough, there is no room for tolerance anymore, from which PTI realized for the first time that the anti-establishment situation they have created on social media. As much as they trolled against the army and the army chief and incited the people against the army, the army will not be pressured by any of their tactics. Perhaps this is the reason why after the press conference there was a change in the attitude of PTI and its leadership for the first time and Imran Khan brought the Army Chief from "Jungle Ke Badshah" to "His Excellency".  After meeting with Imran Khan, his sister Aleema Khan gave a message to Army Chief General Asim Munir that PTI wants good relations with the army and its leadership, but PPP and Muslim League (N) are between us and the army. But even on this development, PTI faced disappointment and no positive response came from the army. Pakistan Army considers its army chief as a hero and soldiers are ready to lay down their lives at a hint from him. They can never tolerate their hero being mocked and ridiculed.

While the social media trolling by PTI continues against the army and its army chief, on the other hand, the army men are fighting against the terrorists, in which 137 army officers and men have sacrificed their lives so far in recent past.  Imran Khan and his party have caused as much damage as possible to the Pakistan Army, perhaps even the enemies of Pakistan have not caused this much damage. To analysts, there is no difference between the perpetrators, planners and Indian terrorist Kulbhushan Yadav of May 9. If Kulbhushan Yadav is serving the punishment for terrorism in Pakistan, terrorists who attack military installations do not deserve any exemption. Unfortunately, despite the passage of more than a year, the fact that the attackers of May 9 have not been sentenced  for thier nefarious roles which is a question mark and a moment of concern, which raises questions about judicial justice. If there was any other civilized society, the accused would have been made to face the music, they would not have been allowed to participate in the election, nor would they have been allowed to become the chief minister.  In such a situation, when PTI founder Imran Khan's confession of calling for protest against his arrest on May 9 and targeting national security agencies has come out, it is necessary that the cases against PTI founder and those responsible for the tragedy of May 9  should be transferred to the military courts and they should be brought to justice.  If the characters involved in the tragedy of May 9 are not brought to justice in the coming days and they are treated favorably, it will not only encourage the terrorists, but we may face another May 9 and Bannu and Gwadar like icidents. Such events will continue to happen. There is no doubt that the DG ISPR's press conference was a strong message to the military opposition that the characters of May 9 will not be spared or relaxed. It would have been better if the message that DG ISPR has given today to PTI and the terrorists involved in the May 9 tragedy, if this message had been given earlier, the situation would not have reached this level. Meanwhile, Negative propaganda and mob violence on social media are not acceptable. Politicians have always been targeted on social media, but now the top judicial figures and the Pakistan Army are also being targeted. This trend is very dangerous, regrettable and poisonous to the country's security and economic and social survival, which requires the strictest measures to eradicate it immediately. A violent mob in the guise of so-called Baloch Raji Mochi attacked the security forces in Gwadar, resulting in the martyrdom of thirty-year-old soldier Shabbir Baloch and injuries to sixteen youths, including an officer.  In this incident, malicious propaganda was resorted to on social media to support the illegal violent march. The Pakistan Army has declared the violent actions of the mob as unacceptable and has vowed to bring those responsible to justice.  Such persons do not deserve any concession. Despite the provocation, the forces showed restraint to avoid civilian casualties.  One would appeal to the citizens not to fall prey to propaganda, remain peaceful and cooperate with the law enforcement agencies to maintain law and order.

Mob attack on security forces amounts to overstepping and challenging the state writ which cannot be allowed under any circumstances. The provincial interior minister is absolutely correct in saying that national security cannot be put at stake by blackmailing criminals.  The armed forces of Pakistan stand side by side with the law enforcement agencies to ensure peace in the country and their sacrifices against terrorists are eternal.
