KARACHI: Deputy Commissioner and Administrator District Central Taha Saleem is striving hard to provide civic facilities to dwellers in district by utilising available limited resources. DC in shortest period of time carried out many civic work for welfare of area people as well as took measures for welfare of district’s employees. In order to give district a better look, action was taken against all kinds of illegal activities in district, including elimination of illegal constructions and encroachments as per order of Supreme Court.

Removal of quackery clinics running by non-medical and non-certified persons in district is also hallmark of DC’s endeavours. Under 100/park projects some 35 parks have so far been reconstructed and beautified for public after operation getting rid of encroachers.  Rest of parks are undergoing restoration work.  Abolishment of charged parking fee and entry fee in all parks in district is also seal in direction of public welfare works and provision of quality civic amenities to people remains on priority of Taha Saleem.

With assistance of Sindh government many new public welfare projects have been launched in central district, including rehabilitation and reconstruction of dilapidated roads, installation and repair of water and sewage, construction of parks and playgrounds, rain drains etc.  A computerised system was introduced to increase recovery of central municipality, so that residents of district can pay their taxes at home. Increase in salaries of employees as they were deprived of increase for many years due to lack of funds is commendable.

With support of PPP central leader Dr. Asim Hussain, who has taken responsibility of making central district best, not only succeeded in getting 15 percent increase in Octroi Zila Tax but also succeeded in proposed increase in salaries of employees. Health cards are being issued to employees of central municipality and a family of five can receive health treatment up to Rs six lakh in two hundred hospitals.

Taha Saleem and officials are busy day and night for timely completion of various ongoing development projects with assistance of provincial and city government. It is hoped that Deputy Commissioner will succeed in making district a model in city with support of Dr. Asim.
