DC Central Taha inaugurates first-ever digital census drive in North Nazimabad

KARACHI: Deputy Commissioner and Administrator District Central Taha Saleem inaugurated first digital census in history of country by placing house number in North Nazimabad Block K. Statistics Officer Syed Kashif Jilani also accompanied him. Taha Saleem talking to media persons said that process of digital census is welcome initiative and appealed to people to actively participate in census so that planning of future projects can be made better.

He said that teams going door to door for male census are being provided full security by district administration. He said that more than 1,600 teams are carrying out census work in District, each team will conduct census in two blocks while police will provide security to each team. He said that enumerators will not require any form of documentation from citizens during process. He said that enumerators can be verified from online records of Federal Bureau of Statistics. He said that according to Bureau of Statistics, citizens do not need to worry about questionnaire prepared for census.

They will not be used against citizens nor will any questions be asked which will have an impact on their personal and business life. By counting every house based on accurate data, foundation of well-planned Pakistan can be laid. He said that census will continue from 9am to 5pm. First digital census in country’s history has started, house census that started before scheduled time of 10 years will continue for one month. Under digital census every structure will be geotagging, all household and census records and entries will be saved through automated system on daily basis, door-to-door enumerators will answer questions through software on their tablets. 43 thousand 838 sensor blocks have been created in 30 districts of Sindh, including more than 10 thousand 700 blocks in Karachi. Each statistical block consists of 250 to 300, enumerators using tablet to record responses to about 25 questions, for first time in household census with information on types of disabilities and transgender people in households, along with income. Related information will also be collected. Police will be on duty during census.
