Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar assured Senate of transparent approach to ongoing privatisation drive.

Addressing concerns, Dar underscored necessity of privatisation amidst mounting economic challenges, promising stringent oversight in decision-making process. Dar acknowledged significant financial losses incurred by delayed privatisation efforts, particularly highlighting plight of state-run steel mills. He advocated for establishment of committee to investigate matter further, stressing need for swift action to prevent further economic setbacks. Furthermore, Dar condemned recent Israeli aggression in Palestine, expressing Pakistan’s unwavering support for Gaza. He called for international accountability, urging initiation of legal proceedings against Israel in International Court of Justice. Federal Energy Minister Awais Leghari echoed Dar’s sentiments on privatisation, emphasising its role in restructuring state institutions for sustainable growth.

Leghari outlined ongoing efforts to draft comprehensive framework aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and accountability within these entities. In legislative proceedings, Senate approved the Governance and Operations Amendment Bill, aimed at streamlining governance structures within state-owned institutions.
