Cyclone will not hit Karachi directly: Sherry Rehman

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman said that cyclone Biparjoy will not hit Karachi directly; however, heavy falls are expected in Karachi. In statements, Sherry Rehman said that few days ago, they did not had any idea about direction of cyclone Biparjoy. She said they kept on monitoring storm throughout night.
Sindh Government, PDMA and related institutions were active to deal with any emergency situation, she said and added that 72,000 people had been vacuated so far. Climate Minister said they were providing reliable information to people about storm.
Process of evacuation from affected areas lasted for four days round clock. Minister said that no decision had been taken regarding halting flights at Karachi Airport.
She said for last three years, Sindh and Balochistan were facing extreme heat. Rehman appealed to people not to go to beach. Apart from this, Rehman also shared latest information related to cyclone on social media.
