ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa has remarked Customs Authorities get smuggle the vehicles themselves and then get them seize themselves.

He further remarked this truck is not a match box that Customs authorities are ignorant of it came from what way.

He gave these remarks while hearing the case of seizing of smuggled truck by KP customs authorities here Monday.

The CJP while rejecting customs appeal reprimanded counsel for customs.

The CJP remarked you are neither giving arguments in the court nor are talking of law. The vehicle was seized inside 400 kilometers away from Peshawar border without the knowledge of customs authorities.

He observed customs authorities get smuggle the vehicles by taking    money and then they get seize them by themselves.

The CJP remarked as to why the inquiry should not be got conducted against customs department. Truck was manufactured in 1996 and was seized in 2016. Where it kept on running for 22 years. See in Peshawar how the vehicles are smuggled. As to why Collector customs be not summoned. What things are happening in Pakistan. Customs authorities went for unnecessary litigation and the matter reached Supreme Court (SC). Then the time of courts was wasted. The real cases cannot be heard in the courts due to such unnecessary cases. In future Customs authorities should avoid from filing such unnecessary cases.

Justice Athar Minallah remarked when vehicles are smuggled then they are tempered completely.  But chassis number of this truck has not been tempered even.

The CJP Qazi Faez Isa dismissed Customs appeal.
